Pastor Colin begins a new sermon series, emphasising the responsibility of a pastor to provide a balanced spiritual diet to the congregation, much like ensuring a balanced physical diet with various food groups.

He draws an analogy between a balanced diet for the body and the nourishment of the soul, pointing out that just as different food groups contribute distinct benefits to physical health, various parts of the Scripture contribute to spiritual health.

Pastor Colin outlines three objectives for the series: understanding the doctrine of union with Christ, seeing why Christianity is more than a sustained effort at living a moral life, and savouring the freedom and joy of an authentic Christian life.

He elaborates on the concept of being spiritually united with Christ, explaining that through this union, believers participate in Jesus’s death and resurrection, thereby being released from the condemnation of the law and entering into a new relationship with Him.

This union brings transformation, freeing believers from the demands of the law (which he personifies as ‘nomos’) and allowing them to bear good spiritual fruit through their new relationship with Christ.
