And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshipped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” Matthew 14:32-33
The disciples probably still had a thousand questions. Why did Jesus allow this storm? Why did He tell them to get in the boat when He knew a storm was coming? Why did Jesus leave the disciples straining at the oars for so long? Why did He not come in the first watch of the night, or the second, or the third? What if there is another storm?
These men had something better to do than agonise over unanswered questions. They realised that the Son of God was with them, and that led them to worship. When you realise that the Son of God is always with you and for you— that He will never let you go, then you will worship too.
This is God’s promise in the storms of life: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you… For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour” (Isa. 43:1-3).
Pray and ask God to strengthen your faith and deliver you from fear. Ask Him to hasten the day when all storms will cease, and we will worship with great joy in His holy presence.
